creating a new filesystem for debian squeeze

I'd like to know how to create a new fs for debian squeeze. apt-get fails now since debian has moved the architecture name from arm to armel.

I have tried debootstrap running on the vm provided but it doesn't complete.

Any pointers would be helpful.

Re: creating a new filesystem for debian squeeze

ARMEL (EABI) mode provide better performance than the ARM (ABI) mode.  The factory supplied kernel supports both modes.

The Emdebian Squeeze may need to be installed on the native machine or use a emulator such as QEMU.  The installation guide here may help, http://www.emdebian.org/release/squeeze/grip/, http://wiki.debian.org/ArmEabiHowto
