gesbc-9260s ethernet interface porblem

hi,

my board is GESBC-9260S and it came to me with out the physical layer iterface(DM9161AEP and RJ45). I purchased them and installed on the board. but the network interface is not working.
i am able to ping to the loop back address and i can also see the eth0 address using ifconfig. but physically it is not connected.

ware could be the problem. the led's on the RJ-45 connector are not glowing. the RJ-45 is with inbult magnetic circuit. some times both the led's glows not connection is estableshed with the network. first i thought there could be some soldering problem and i made the touch up even then no use.

please tell me shell i have to do some thing else.

the ping from loopback ip is coming , does that means DM9161 is working or not.

the following message is coming during the initialization,

eth0: Atmel MACB at 0xfffc4000 irq 21 (00:0e:20:02:0a:5b)
eth0: attached PHY driver [Generic PHY] (mii_bus:phy_addr=ffffffff:00, irq=-1)

what does it mean, is my DM9161AEP is working fine or not, shell i have to enable any thing in the software. please tell me if i have to restart any services or any modifications.

regards,
bhupesh.

Hi

I got the reply from the support team as they said that The factory default installed software has Ethernet driver built-in.  No software changes are needed to support the 10/100 Ethernet, I suspected that my DM9161AEP ic may be faulty and i replaced with another new ic. and the network interface is working now.

But i suggest to desoulder the components very carefully as the board is too delicate and multiple attempts will cause physical damage.

regards,
bhupesh.
