VT6656 WiFi support for kernel >= 2.6.30?

Hi all,

I would really prefer to use a newer kernel (e.g., 2.6.30) so I can use the built-in GPIO driver, but the VT6656 WiFi driver is broken for kernels >~ 2.6.27.  Has anyone had luck getting this working?

Thanks,
-B.

I am using kernel 2.6.30, you need to apply the patch from http://www.at91.com/linux4sam/bin/view/Linux4SAM/LinuxKernel

hope that helps

Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I applied the patch, but I'm still not seeing any support for this device (e.g., in the configuration), nor does this patch fix the incompatibilities with the via-provided driver.  Could you perhaps give me a couple more nudges in the right direction?  Is the device supported under some generic driver?  Thanks for the help,

-Brady

p.s., would you mind posting your config file?

Re: VT6656 WiFi support for kernel >= 2.6.30?

Is there really no one else on this board who needs both GPIO (sysfs) and Wifi?  Hopefully there is some simple solution I am too ignorant to figure out, but my scouring of google has proved fruitless.  I have tried applying the linked (above) patch, but this has no effect on the compilation failure of the driver from via (here:http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/VT6656_linux_src_v1.20.03_x86.rar) since the failure is due to changes in net_device, which this patch does not significantly modify.  Am I misunderstanding something?

edit:  I am using 2.6.30.10, not just 2.6.30
