Re: UART 1 signal levels

The UART port 1 of GESBC-9260S is connected to USART 0 of the AT91SAM9260 CPU.  4 signal lines are available on this port, TX, RX, RTS, CTS.  The signal levels are RS-232 levels.   The Linux device node for the port is ttyS1.

Re: UART 1 signal levels

So this is +- 12v coming out of the USART0 port ? There's not a level translator in between ?

The reason I ask is that if I change the console to /dev/ttyS1 nothing comes out ?

Re: UART 1 signal levels

The port has a RS-232 driver chip and it can interface directly with any RS-232 port.  Please check your command/configuration to make sure the console is redirected to ttyS1.

Re: UART 1 signal levels

OK, so even using minicom I can't get anything out. I have set it to not use hardware handshaking. This port is vital to my application.

Do I need to loop back the hardware lines ?

Re: UART 1 signal levels

Ignore this thread, I have it working, the connector was not correct.
