Preparing a SD or a USB drive wtih 9260rootfs.img

When I try to mount the 9260rootfs.img as a loop back file locally on my Linux box, I am asked to specify the fs type - any idea what I should provide for this? Or is this something that I cant do?

When I used fdisk to look at this file, it says that there is no partition information - so if I were to prepare a SD card or a USB drive with this rootfs image, I would have to create a partition, format it and then use dd to copy the img file to the SD card or USB drive - is this correct?

BTW, is there a swap partition being use in the prebuilt kernel images provided? In the 2.6.25 kernel config, I saw that it was being used ...

Re: Preparing a SD or a USB drive wtih 9260rootfs.img

I guess I cant use .img files as they are meant to be written to NAND as roofs and I guess the fs is jffs. Anyways, I was able to use the tarball of debian based rootfs and create a sd card based rootfs and use that successfully.

The 9260rootfs.img is a JFFS2 image and it can not be mounted directly.  You can copy it to a JFFS2 formatted RAM disk and mount the RAM disk.
