eth0: TX underrun, resetting buffers

I have been seeing this a lot with the new 9260S board.  Usually when I'm using scp to transfer files to the board.  Haven't seen it with the original 9260 board.

Compiled the newest kernel 2.6.27 with the experimental mod to put the ethernet buffers in the on-chip ram, it's supposed to help, but still didn't solve the problem.

This is a concern as our product is mission critical and needs to be bullet proof.

Thanks,
ml

Re: eth0: TX underrun, resetting buffers

The AT91SAM9260 CPU only has a small on-chip buffer for the Ethernet port.  The TX under run may occur under heavy network traffic.  The patch that uses on-chip  SRAM as buffer suppose to fix the problem.  Make sure you have the following configuration for your kernel build,

Ethernet (10 or 100Mbit) --->
<*> Atmel MACB support
  • Atmel MACB TX buffers in internal SRAM

Re: eth0: TX underrun, resetting buffers

I haven't been able to find that in 2.6.25 supplied by Glomation.  I did compile 2.6.27 and enabled this feature but still had the problem.

2.6.28 also has the issues even with the patch. It is working ok regardless of the dmesg warnings...
