upgrade kernel

Hi, I would like to upgrade kernel in GESBC-9260. I'm running 2.6.30 right now but I would like to install 2.6.32 or 2.6.33. I know that i have to use the patch for ARM architecture described in "http://www.maxim.org.za/at91_26.html" but I'm really lost . Do I have to download the complete kernel 2.6.32 from kernel.org?How do I patch it for ARM? and how do i compile them? Do i have to use crooss compile?
I hope someone can help me.

Really thanks

JUAN

Re: upgrade kernel

Ok, I've managed to compile the kernel 2.6.33 and patch for arm9. When i try to boot from the SD card, at the beginning it wasn't able to recognize the SD card and the partition where I have the FS installed. I modified the .config and recompiled and it is recognizing the SD and the partitions at the moment but can't boot from that partition. it says something like:
VFS: Cannot open root device "mmcblk0p1" or unknown-block(179,1)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:
   b300          995328 mmcblk0 driver: mmcblk
      b301          341569 mmcblk0p1
      b302          652944 mmcblk0p2
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,1)

Do I have to modify anything more in .config to make it works?

Thank you
