Is the board powered on?

I just received my board and hooked up USB and ethernet and I have no idea if it's actually turned on.  None of the Ethernet LEDs have lit up.  The USB connection is 4.78V according to my multimeter.

Am I missing a step in starting up?  I don't have a serial cable on hand, so I haven't tested that.  Is there any other way to see if it's on?

Re: Is the board powered on?

The best way to know the running status is to connect the serial cable to the debug port.  It seems you tried to power the board with a USB cable.  The GESBC-9260 is not designed to be power from USB port.  Please connect a 5V DC power supply to power the board.

Re: Is the board powered on?

Ok.  I've got the board powered, and I've got a null serial cable attached.  The problem is that I get complete gibberish on the serial console.  I am running at 115200 8N1 using minicom and/or screen.  All I get is gibberish.  Am I missing something?

Re: Is the board powered on?

I think my ttl serial to USB setup (via an arduino) is not compatible with 115200.  What is the recommended cable I'll need to get into the debug console.  From what I've read, I need to convert from the RS 232 voltages to the ttl voltages or I'll damage the board.  Can anyone point me toward a good cable that can do USB to ttl?

Re: Is the board powered on?

The debug port on the GESBC-9260 board is RS-232 level.  A standard NULL modem cable should work fine.
